The details in this song have nothing to do with my own life. I had the idea I should try and start off some songs by imagining I was a character writing a letter to another character. Then I just brainstormed for initial lyrics and followed the rhymes. So it seems to be a mother writing a series of letters to her travelling daughter and both of them are going through major life changes, with an overlying theme about going with the flow and allowing new life chapters to begin.
